What Have We Been Up To?
The Christmas Fundraiser
Once again, we teamed up with The Dream Factory to raise money to go towards their hard work in supporting critically ill young people to have the experience of a life time. We were visited by Father Christmas who met many families in his grotto and gave presents out to all of the children who visited him! On behalf of all the volunteers of the club and The Dream Factory, we want to thank everyone who purchased a ticked or donated to them to support their hard work.
Re-Builiding Gauge 1 Track
With the running season now over, we are taking this oppotunity to update and upgrade our gauge 1 garden railway. Our members are currently hard at work relaying the structural supports between the pillars. We are also in the process of laying a polymer based plank system that is more resistant to rot compared to the natural timber that we previously used.
Once this has been completed, we will relay the track with a wider curve radius allowing for us to be able to run longer trains on this much loved railway!
The Dream Factory Fundraiser
Here is Roy, our chairman presenting a cheque for £1150 which was raised on the charity Easter egg hunt event for The Dream Factory. Many thanks to everyone who came and supported this event, the money you helped us raise will go on to make a huge impact on young peoples live - something we are very passionate about!
Winter Maintenance 2023
Throughout the winter months, our club members have worked hard to perform some much needed maintenance to the railway site which will allow us to continue running long into the future. Some of the things we have done included laying a concrete retaining wall, re-aligning the raised track, a complete overhaul on several locomotives and laying utility cables.
We look forward to seeing all of you when we are back open in the summer months running the trains every Sunday!
